About the University
Combining classical Islamic sciences with modern educational approaches.
The Islamic University in Ukraine is a unique modern academic institution that opens and expands the horizons of understanding Islam for both residents of Ukraine and its guests.
Main Goals of the Islamic University of Ukraine
- training highly qualified specialists with deep knowledge of Islamic sciences;
- expanding access to religious education for Muslims around the world;
- cooperation with both Islamic and secular higher education institutions to build a unified system of Islamic education;
- participation in Islamic scientific research.
History and Status
The Islamic University in Ukraine was founded on April 11, 1993 by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine on the initiative of the Supreme Mufti of Ukraine, Sheikh Ahmed Tamim.
Today, the Islamic University is the only active Islamic higher educational institution in Ukraine. Since its establishment, the University has been open to cooperation with educational institutions both in Ukraine and abroad.

The diploma of the Islamic University has been legalized and recognized throughout the Islamic world, including by Al-Azhar University (Order No. 60 dated 11.06.2001). The diplomas of the Islamic University are also recognized by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.

Schools and Graduates
Currently, the University teaches according to two main Islamic theological and legal schools — Shafi‘i and Hanafi.
Throughout its existence, the University has prepared more than ten generations of imams and teachers of Islamic sciences, who now work in Muslim communities, centers, and organizations in Ukraine, Tunisia, Germany, Turkey, Tajikistan, Latvia, Austria, Australia, and other countries around the world.
